Vacation Practice

I’ve been away on vacation for the last week and had little service so I haven’t been able to post. Despite that, the last week had proven to be quite fertile ground for sowing  the seeds of practice. I have really been inspired by the Eight Verses and Lama Zopa Rinpoche’s book on transforming problems into the path and these teachings,  in conjunction with my own Abhaya-cariya aspirations have helped me to turn everyday annoyances and familial duties into parami practices.

More than any other perfection, it is dana parami that I have found more opportunities to cultivate. Whatever it is offering food, money or my time I have been able to give openly and, most important of all, dedicate the merit  to the goal of liberation for the benefit of all. I’m simply not doing this justice right now and maybe that’s a function of not having written for a week but the point is this: when one’s daily life becomes a field of practice and a furnace to burn off the dross of the kilesas there is a certain contentment and ease that opens up, at least for me. I hope to better articulate this layer but for now this will have to do.
