Yesterday I received a phone call from our kids’ health insurance company requesting information. Specifically they asked for our income information to determine the premium. Over the years I have tried to ensure that I follow the precepts ever more closely. So, whereas in the past I may have been inclined to fudge the numbers, I provided them with the correct numbers.
I’m ashamed to admit it, but when it comes to my kids and family there is a string urge to do whatever it takes to ensure they get what they need. So, it felt like a significant victory to have held fast to silâ. And I can only imagine the terrible things I would be capable of if my family were truly threatened. To realize the dangers buried in or attachments to friends and family is a scary thing and I can only hope to make more headway in the practice before that day comes.
