Not Quite

Today was an uposatha and although u went strong for most of the day, cooking dinner for my family proved to be more than I could take and I gave in. Obviously, I feel worse for having giving up but it seems that, lately, I need to put a lot more work into aditthana parami than at other points in my life.

  1. Is this a fasting day? And by giving in, do you mean you broke your fast? And what is aditthana parami? The paramis are the perfections, right? The noble qualities to which we aspire?

    • The uposatha day is a lunar observanc eday where you fast from food after midday and take additional renunciant precepts: http://www.accesstoinsight.org/ptf/dhamma/sila/uposatha.html

Aditthana Parami is one of the perfections necessary to fulfill the bodhisatta path an dis the perfection of determination or resolve.

      Hope that helps. Be well!

      • Thank you for your explanations…they were very helpful!
