Aspirations for Degenerate Practitioners in Degenerate Times

May I never buy new clothing but only used.

May I not spend more than $20 on myself each week.

May I eat at most two meals a day.

May I not waste any food or drink.

May I not take any medicines that are solely used to treat pain.

May I buy goods locally, eschewing online and expedited services.

May I not use my smartphone when in the company of others.

May I not use my smartphone while walking.

May I give whatever is asked, as long as it does not violate the precepts.

May I conserve water and shower once every other day.

May I never use a heater if I cannot see my breath.

May I not raise my voice in anger.

May I not be intentionally alone with a person of the opposite sex of marriageable age.

May I collect any trash I find in my surroundings and dispose of it properly.

May I embrace failure fully, confess it and not shrink away from its teachings.

May I never eat or drink first.

May I never drink or eat the last serving of anything.

May I increase my endurance and stamina through physical exercise each day: 108 push-ups, 108 sit ups. 108 prostrations.

May I never sit on a train or bus unless asked to do so.
